The day

The leadership workshop in four blocks

Facts first, then decisions. Everyone writes before anyone speaks. The agenda is the starting point; we tailor it in the prep session.

Block 1

Where execution stalls

  • The strategy in one page: what it asks of each leader's area
  • Execution scan: on track, stalling, in the way
  • Clustering on the wall, agreed by the whole team
Block 2

What matters now

  • From the stall points to the three to five things the team steers together
  • Pitch and vote, explicit trade-offs
  • One owner per item
Block 3

How we decide

  • Decision rights: who decides what, by when
  • Escalation: how we unblock within a week
  • Working agreements: how we challenge, how we close
Block 4

How we steer

  • Monthly review, quarterly reset
  • The message to the organisation
  • Commitment round and the first review in the calendar

How we work

Rigorous process, lively room

Facts before opinions

What stalls goes on the wall before anyone argues about why.

Everyone writes before anyone speaks

Silent writing first, then clustering. The quiet voices shape the agenda.

Pitch, vote, decide

Sixty seconds per pitch, one vote, one decision. Open points get an owner and a date.

Who you work with

Two partners, one in the lead and one challenging

One of us runs the process, the other works the content with your team. Both have sat on the client side of strategy and on the facilitator side of more than a thousand workshops.

Questions

Questions about the leadership workshop

What is the leadership workshop for?

For leadership teams whose strategy is set and whose execution is not. One day on alignment: what matters now, who decides what, how we work together and how we steer the quarter.

How is it different from an offsite?

It is one day and it starts from a strategy that already exists. If the strategy itself is still open, start with the strategy offsite; if execution across a whole executive team is the question, the executive offsite gives you two or three days.

Who should be in the room?

The leadership team that has to deliver together, typically 6 to 15 people. One or two partners facilitate, depending on group size and stakes; with two, one runs the process and the other challenges the content.

What do we prepare?

A one-hour prep session with us and a short survey among participants. We read what you already have; anonymised versions are fine.

Where does it take place?

At your offices or a venue of your choice. We are based in Hamburg and come to wherever your team meets, in English or German.

What do we leave with?

A shared view of where execution stalls, decision rights and escalation paths, five working agreements, and the first review in the calendar.

Three Horizons is the framework by Baghai, Coley and White (McKinsey & Company, 1999). Stryke Consulting is not affiliated with McKinsey & Company or the authors. OKR stands for Objectives and Key Results.
